|"Small Workshops for the Serious Student"|
Michael reserves summer and fall in Lubec, Maine, to offer en plein air workshops. Both oil and pastel are welcome, and every level of student, from beginner to advanced, will benefit from the workshop. The season starts in July and runs through mid-September. You can sign up now at www.PleinAirPaintingMaine.com
Michael will demonstrate materials and methods for painting en plein air with plenty of instruction at the student's easel. Painting locations may include Lubec's historic waterfront, lighthouses, rugged cliffs, and more.
Sessions, which consist of four-day (Tuesday-Friday) half-day sessions will give painters plenty of time to explore both Downeast Maine and nearby Campobello Island (in New Brunswick, Canada) on their own. (Sessions are run 9-1 Atlantic Time/8-12 Eastern.) While visiting, you can go on a whale watch...take a hike at Quoddy Head State Park...or visit two of the most scenic lighthouses, the West Quoddy Light and the Head Harbour Light.
If you're from the US, we suggest you bring your passport so you can explore the Roosevelt-Campobello International Park. Campobello Island is in New Brunswick, Canada. It's just over the bridge from Lubec, Maine, and only two hours from Bar Harbor or the Bangor International Airport. Lodging and dining are plentiful on Campobello Island and nearby Lubec, Maine.
Even though each session is a complete course, feel free to take several weeks to hone your skills! There is no minimum number of students for the class, but the maximum for Campobello Island is typically FOUR students. A few advanced level/mentoring weeks are also scheduled. Price - $300. For many more details, visit www.PleinAirPaintingMaine.com
In addition to teaching workshops in Downeast Maine and in Sedona, Arizona, Michael teaches for a number of art groups and associations throughout the year. To see a master schedule of his workshops, visit the workshop page of his website.
