Sedona Area Guild of Artists (SAGA) Invitational Exhibition - Sedona Art Museum

One of my last activities this weekend before we head east for the season is the Sedona Area Guild of Artists (SAGA) Invitational Exhibition.  Although SAGA, a juried guild of professional artists, has had annual exhibitions over the years, for the 2013 show it decided to expand a bit.  Each member was asked to invite another local outstanding artist to show with them.  I am honored to be invited by M.L. Coleman for this event.  My choice for the show is above.

This year's exhibit is special in another way.  It's a fundraiser for the Sedona Art Museum, which is located in a temporary space generously donated by real estate broker John D. Miller in the Old Marketplace. This is the plaza that contains the Heart of Sedona  coffee shop and Natural Frontiers grocery at 1370 West Highway 89A.

The Museum plans to gather and display art created over the decades by Sedona artists.  Some of these artists include Cowboy Artists of America founder Joe Beeler, sculptor Nassan Gobran, and Surrealist Max Ernst. The museum has an online exhibit of Sedona artists plus a timeline that is well-worth viewing.

The kick-off for the Museum and the fundraiser was a fun event last night with live music, catered food and beverages.  The exhibit continues until April 21.
